The Flathead Valley Clay Target Club held its 4th annual fundraiser to benefit Montana Wounded Warriors June 6-8.
A good number of shooters attended the trap shooting venue at the Flathead Valley Clay Target Club, Friday evening, June 6th and Saturday and Sunday, the 7th and 8th.
This year, 9 of our wounded warriors from around Montana were able to shoot at the benefit fund raiser at the Flathead Valley Clay Target Club: Billy Beck, Jeremy Sands, Kyle Lockwood, Rob Wickham, Jarred Fluery, Dustin Anderson, Charles Gatlin, Aaron Evenson and Anthony Embesi. Some of the attendees had never shot trap, so Neil Baumann provided guns and some of the members provided instructions. Neil also provided great elk burgers and brats Friday evening at the instructional event. Thanks to Neil and Kristy for all the effort put into the event, it was truly appreciated by all.
Not only did our wounded vets get all the trigger time they could handle but we also included an afternoon fishing trip on Flathead Lake to give them a little break from the shotguns.
Saturday afternoon, Mike Howe of A Able fishing charters guided Aaron Evenson of Great Falls and Kyle Lockwood of Kalispell for a lake trout trip on Flathead Lake. It was a beautiful calm day on the lake, and both Aaron and Kyle were able to land a nice lake trout in the 3-1/2 to 4 lb. range. It was their first trip on the lake and each said it was the largest trout they had ever caught. Good job anglers and thanks Mike for putting them on the fish.
The board of Montana Wounded Warriors would like to thank the club and the business that were so generous to our vets. Thanks to Jessica Godderz of Cabela’s for all the help with the shotgun ammo, thanks to our 2 fishing charters Mike from A Able Fishing and Tours and Flathead Lake Charters for showing our wounded warriors a great afternoon on the lake. ?A big thank you to the owners and staff at Spencer & Co steak house for a fabulous meal Saturday night.
A special thank you goes out to the Flathead Valley Clay Target Club for not only making our wounded warriors feel welcome and appreciated at the club, but for their amazing generosity as for the 4th year in a row they have blessed Montana Wounded Warriors with a large donation (this year over $2,700) from their fundraiser to help us continue to provide high quality hunting and fishing trips to Montana residents who were wounded in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, thank you all.
