On August 27, 2016 we had a fundraiser for Montana Wounded Warriors at the Squire Lounge in Billings, Montana. We had live music playing outside on a stage, delicious BBQ provided free with a donation suggested, and a list too long to describe of silent and live auction items. The Squire filled up with 200-300 people to support the event and enjoy all the fun. We had fun raffles going all night that gave away several brand new hunting rifles from Shipton’s Big R. We raffled a total of 8 guns to several lucky winners which includes two of our own wounded warriors, Mike Kuntz and Josh Beckett. Everybody had a great time and we auctioned off a donated steer skull from a MT Wounded Warrior Brandon Olson, that he painted and decorated himself. That skull went in the live auction for $2200 – thank you so much Brandon! The donated AR-15 from Scheels and beautiful hydro-dip donated by Todd Rust was the high dollar item for the night. It sold in the live auction for $4100, WOW! Two of our very own members and very talented taxidermists, John Bennett and Jacob Schenck, donated a shoulder mount to be done by them personally. Those were a hit as well and two happy bidders walked away with some talented work to come. The moment that everyone was waiting for came and we finally drew for the three lucky winners of the $10,000 cash prizes for the raffle tickets. The three winners (pictured below, in order) were:
$5,000 – Jason Werholz
$3,000 – Dawn Clark
$2,000 – Sara Wagner
None of the winners were present, but we were able to contact them and inform them of their new found fortune. It was a long, enjoyable event and a huge success. With all the hard work, and very generous donors, the event raised over $30,000. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this possible!!
