Purple Heart Goat Hunt 2023
Over the past few years, Montana Wounded Warriors has participated in FWP’s Purple Heart Donated Tag Program. This program allows individuals who have successfully drawn a special permit to donate it back to FWP where it is then issued to purple heart veterans with a 70% or higher disability rating. This year Scott Larkin of Missoula received a Mountain Goat tag in district 331. This is a very rugged area located between the Boulder and Yellowstone rivers south of Big Timber. After a lot of glassing and several days in the rugged terrain, we were able to get Scott on his goat, which he said fulfilled a hunt of a lifetime. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the individual who donated the tag, but who’s name we don’t know. We would also like to thank Morgan Broadbrooks, head of FWP licensing, for coordinating the distribution of these donated tags and permits which makes this program so successful.
