We had the pleasure to do a guided hunt with Best of the Bulls – MT Trophy Hunts in Roundup this hunting season with Bob and his awesome guides. The very fortunate group of Wounded Warriors that were blessed with this hunt were Mike Kuntz, Jerad Werning, Ethan Bailey, Ike Zahn, Tim Gardipee, and Michael McLean Jr. These Warriors were in for a 6 day guided hunt for a trophy deer and cow elk. With the hard work of an extra special (and I mean special) guide, David “Bubba” Burns, the Warriors were treated to some awesome surprises the first night they arrived for the hunt. Several local ranches came together and provided a surprise dinner for the Warriors and a gift package donated by Scheels of hunting gear totaling $1000 a piece for each Warrior. Donahue Roofing owners purchased brand new rifles and scope combos for the Warriors and this list goes on for the great sponsors like Al’s Bootery and so much more. The Warriors were speechless even before the hunt began. Due to the snow storm that blew in overnight, we could not get out to the lodge and had to stay in town. We all got up early the next morning and braved the cold weather front to find some animals. The first day early morning, Michael shot an awesome muley buck that is a definite wall mounter and set the bar for the trip. Later that evening, Jerad shot a very nice whitetail buck that again was a trophy for sure. The next day was another successful start with Ethan shooting the first cow elk of the trip. Later that evening, right before dark, Ethan got a shot at a huge whitetail buck and tagged him out with precision. Day three began with numerous elk being seen running around as Jerad shot a cow and Mike shot his first ever spike bull elk. Jerad was now tagged out and we still needed some deer and elk for the 4 others. Ike came on strong that evening and shot a beautiful mule deer buck to close out the day of success. Day four opened up with Ike getting a huge cow elk and followed that evening with a very nice mule deer buck. We had one more day left that ended with a bang! Mike shot a nice mule deer buck first thing and as we were driving back to town we turned around to go see Tim’s monster muley he shot. While we were admiring Tim’s deer, a heard of elk popped out in the field right next to us and Tim got a few shots off but was not able to drop one. Michael, on the other hand, was racing off in the woods with Greg the guide and shot his first cow elk. We ended the day with everyone tagging out with Tim just left to shoot an elk. Tim and his hard working guide went out a few hours the very last day but were unable to find an elk for Tim. All together the Warriors shot 6 trophy deer and 5 elk. That was amazing and we were so proud to be a part of it all. We cannot thank Bob and all of his awesome guides, including Bubba. We had so much fun and it was a great trip that gave these Warriors an experience they will never forget
